Nolla Naguri

The information included in this article is accurate at the time the article was written. There may be circumstances in which facilities are temporarily closed, or operating under changed business hours, as well as the sudden cancellation or postponement of events, so please remember to check the most recent information regarding facilities and events via the official website and other sources.

Here we will introduce the Nolla Naguri leisure area, which has recently been established in the Naguri area of Hanno City in Saitama Prefecture. It features a combination of leisure facilities and many opportunities to experience Nordic culture.

Here, visitors can enjoy Finland-style outdoor saunas and glamping while surrounded by nature, as well as Nordic-style BBQ! Additionally, a market and regular events are held on weekends.

Just a short one-hour trip from Tokyo, this tourist spot offers an enjoyable experience for everyone, adults and children alike, during which you can get in touch with the rich nature of the area while surrounded by an abundance of mountains, rivers, and breathtakingly fresh air.

“Nolla,” is from the Finnish language, meaning “zero,” and “nothing.” Thus, the concept behind the new Nolla Naguri area is, “To be a space where visitors can discard the noises and stress that build up during everyday life and spend meaningful time discovering their own personal, neutral state of being.”

【Central Park】

This is the central, wide grassy area. Visitors can enjoy day trips for a BBQ and events such as an outdoor cinema and musical performances on a stage made using materials from the Nishikawa Forest. (Due to the influence of COVID-19 these are currently canceled.) On weekends, markets and food markets are also held. As this is a public space, anyone can feel free to use it!

Enjoy throwing aromatic water on the hot sauna stones and sweating from the löyly (steam) as it raises your body temperature while gently patting yourself down with the vihta (bundle of young birch leaves and branches), used to promote blood circulation and skin firmness, creating invigorating scents and making you feel as if you’re indulging in forest bathing. Furthermore, planning is underway for sauna events featuring Neppashi (Katsumasa Inoue – former pro-wrestler who has since become the so-called ‘Heat Master’) and DJs!
